It is a world that is controlled
by one company: Shinra. They used to be a weapons manufacturer company
until the end of the war and that was when they found a source of
energy that was needed for the survival of mankind (hah, well, not
really ^^): Mako. The only problem is that Mako is the life energy
of the planet. Everything has energy: from the birds to the bees,
the flowers to the trees. You get what I mean. If all the life energy
of the planet was destroyed, however, it would crumble apart.
A group called AVALANCHE is out
to stop Shinra from using its mako-sucking reactors and this is where
our main character, Cloud Strife, makes his debut.

Cloud first appears as an arrogant
mercenary-for-hire, but as the story progresses, he changes. He's
still the same old Cloud, but with lots of problems ^^. The game takes
a dramatic turn when a person from the past reveals his true intent...
Sephiroth, the
coolest, twisted, bad guy that you'll ever see!
Cloud's goal then
changes into stopping Sephiroth from taking over the world. Teaming
up with childhood friend Tifa Lockheart, one armed Mister T Barret
Wallace, wise feline extrordinare Red XIII (aka Nanaki), surviving
Ancient flower girl Aeris Gainsborough, pesky materia ninja thief
Yuffie Kisaragi, "hospitable" pilot Cid Highwind, and ex-Turk
turned monster Vincent Valentine, Cloud and his friends fight for
the survival of the planet against a newly revived Sephiroth, and
the only key is their dearly beloved Ancient; the last of her race....
If only things were
that easy....
